About DAI
Dai (DAI) is a stablecoin that tracks the US dollar and is backed by collateral locked in the Maker protocol, which rebranded to Sky in 2024. Sky also issues a newer stablecoin, USDS, but DAI remains in use and is the asset traded here. People swap into DAI to park value in a dollar-linked token they hold themselves, and swap out of it when they need a volatile coin for a purchase or transfer.

Is DAI still around after Maker became Sky?
DAI still exists and is the asset listed on this page. Maker rebranded to Sky in 2024 and introduced USDS as a newer stablecoin alongside it. DAI on Ethereum keeps its original contract address.
Is DAI the same token as USDS?
No, they are separate tokens with separate contracts, even though both come from the Sky protocol. xswap.to lists DAI here, so a USDS transfer to a DAI deposit address will not be credited as DAI. Check the token name and contract before sending.
