About USD Coin (USDC)

USD Coin (USDC) is a dollar stablecoin issued by Circle, backed by reserves of cash and cash equivalents and redeemable through Circle at one dollar per coin for eligible customers. People swap USDC to park value between trades, to move dollars to a chain where fees are lower, or to turn volatile coins into something steady without opening an account. xswap.to handles it as a crypto-to-crypto exchange: you send, then receive at your own address.

USDC is listed on twelve networks here, and each one is a separate token. The default is ERC-20 USDC on Ethereum; the selector also offers Solana (SPL), Base, Arbitrum One, Polygon PoS, BNB Smart Chain and several more. EVM networks share the 0x address format, which makes it easy to paste a valid address for the wrong chain. Non-EVM listings such as Solana use their own address format. None of the USDC listings needs a memo.

Converting USDC to a volatile coin ties the estimate to that coin's price, while a swap into another stablecoin moves very little. Either way, the margin and the fee for delivering your payout are deducted inside the floating-rate estimate the widget shows. Timing depends on the chain you chose: on Ethereum a new block lands every 12 seconds, while layer 2 networks and Solana produce blocks more often. Your order page tracks the swap and shows the transaction ID.

Each network is a separate option in the coin selector. Send and receive only on the network you pick, and use a memo or tag where one is required.

Before you send

  • Pick the USDC listing whose network matches your wallet, for example Base or Arbitrum One rather than the Ethereum default.
  • Keep the gas coin for your chosen network, such as ETH on Ethereum or SOL on Solana, in the sending wallet.
  • Check that the token you send matches the USDC listing you picked, since bridged USDC.e on some layer 2 networks is a separate token.
  • Enter a Solana address, not a 0x address, when you choose to receive USDC on Solana.

USDC Frequently Asked Questions

Which network does the USDC deposit use by default?

The default USDC listing is the ERC-20 token on Ethereum, contract 0xA0b86991c6218b36c1d19D4a2e9Eb0cE3606eB48. If your USDC sits on Solana, Base, Arbitrum One or another listed chain, switch the listing in the coin selector before creating the order. The deposit address only accepts USDC on the network shown on the order page.

Can I send USDC on Base to an Ethereum USDC deposit address?

No, a Base transfer to an Ethereum deposit address will not be credited, even though both addresses look the same. EVM chains share the 0x format, so the mistake is easy to make and hard to undo. Choose the Base listing instead.

Is USDC backed by real dollars?

Circle states that USDC is backed by cash and short-term US Treasury holdings and publishes regular reserve attestations. Eligible institutional customers can redeem it with Circle at one dollar per coin. That peg is maintained by Circle, not by xswap.to, which only exchanges the token.

Do I need ETH to send USDC on Ethereum?

Yes, an ERC-20 transfer of USDC on Ethereum is paid in ETH gas, so the sending wallet needs some ETH. On other networks the gas coin changes: SOL on Solana, BNB on BNB Smart Chain, and ETH on Base or Arbitrum One. The fee for your payout is already deducted from what you receive.

Why is the USDC I receive a little below the estimate?

The estimate is a floating quote, and both the payout network fee and the exchange margin are built into it. If the coin on the other side of the swap moves before your deposit confirms, the result shifts too. Swaps between two stablecoins usually change the least.

Does xswap.to ask for ID to exchange USDC?

It does not: there is no ID upload, no email and no account. Once in a while, a partner's automated anti-money-laundering screening pauses a flagged transaction and requests verification. If that happens, support on Telegram at @xswap_to can help when you share the order's transaction ID.
