About eCash (XEC)

eCash (XEC) is the coin that came out of the November 2020 split of Bitcoin Cash, when the Bitcoin ABC node team kept its own chain and later renamed it eCash. It runs on proof of work like Bitcoin, and its unit is small: one XEC equals 100 satoshis, so balances read in thousands or millions. People swap XEC to cash out a mining payout, move tips into another coin, or pick up XEC for low-cost payments.

Only one XEC listing exists here, native XEC on the eCash network. There is no token version and no memo, so a deposit is a plain eCash transaction to the one-time address on your order page. For the payout you need an eCash address, which normally carries the ecash: prefix. Do not paste a Bitcoin Cash address with the bitcoincash: prefix, even though the two formats look alike, because the chains are separate.

The XEC quote in the widget is a floating-rate estimate, worked out after the margin and the payout network fee are removed. You pay the eCash fee on your own deposit. Prices that move before your deposit is confirmed change the final amount a little. Timing depends on eCash block confirmations (the chain targets about one block every 10 minutes, like Bitcoin) and on how quickly the receiving chain moves. Your order page shows each status and the transaction ID.

Each network is a separate option in the coin selector. Send and receive only on the network you pick, and use a memo or tag where one is required.

Before you send

  • Copy a payout address that begins with ecash: from a wallet that supports eCash, such as Cashtab or Electrum ABC.
  • Never send Bitcoin Cash (BCH) to an XEC deposit address, since the two coins share history but run on separate chains.
  • Count the digits twice when typing an XEC amount, because one XEC is only 100 satoshis and balances run into the millions.
  • Leave a little extra XEC in your wallet to pay the eCash network fee on the deposit transaction.

XEC Frequently Asked Questions

Is eCash the same coin as Bitcoin Cash?

No, eCash (XEC) is a separate coin that split from Bitcoin Cash in November 2020 and took the eCash name in 2021. Coins on one chain cannot be spent on the other. A BCH transfer sent to an XEC address, or the reverse, will not arrive as the coin you expected.

Which address format do I need to receive XEC?

You need an eCash address, usually shown with the ecash: prefix followed by a string starting with q or p. Most eCash wallets display it this way by default. Paste the full address and compare the first and last few characters before you confirm the swap.

Do I need a memo or tag to send eCash?

No memo, tag or payment ID is used for XEC on xswap.to. The deposit address on your order page belongs to that order alone, so the transfer is matched by the address. Send only XEC on the eCash network to it.

Why are XEC amounts so large compared with other coins?

eCash redenominated its unit so that one XEC equals 100 satoshis, which is one millionth of the old BCHA coin. That makes everyday amounts read in thousands or millions of XEC. Nothing about the value changed, only the decimal point moved, so check you typed the right number of digits.

How long does an eCash swap take to finish?

Mostly on eCash block confirmations for your deposit, then on how quickly the payout chain processes the outgoing transfer. eCash targets roughly one block every 10 minutes, so the confirming stage is often the longest. The order page updates live, and recent orders stay listed on the Track Order page in your browser.

What if the XEC I get back is less than the estimate?

A small gap is normal with a floating rate, since the market can move between the estimate and the moment your deposit confirms. The payout network fee also comes out of the amount you receive, and it is already counted in the estimate. If the difference looks too large, contact support on Telegram @xswap_to with your transaction ID.
