It can: TRC-20 transfers such as USDT consume energy and bandwidth, and when your account has none left, the network burns TRX to cover them. Holding TRX in the same address lets those transfers go through.
It starts with a capital T and is 34 characters long in Base58. Hex-style 0x addresses belong to the BEP-20 TRX token on BNB Smart Chain and will not work for native TRX. Copy yours from a TRON wallet such as TronLink.
You do not need to fund it beforehand. On TRON an account becomes active when it first receives TRX, so the payout itself activates an empty address. After that, the wallet works normally.
