About Tether USD (USDT)

USDT, issued by Tether, is a stablecoin meant to hold a value of one US dollar, backed by reserves the company reports in regular attestations. Traders swap USDT to hold a dollar value between positions, to pay someone who asked for Tether on a specific chain, or to move funds off a network where fees are high. On xswap.to you can exchange USDT for other coins, or get USDT, with no account: you send to a one-time address and receive at your own wallet.

Ten USDT networks are listed here, and a token on one cannot be deposited on another. Ethereum's ERC-20 USDT (contract 0xdAC17F958D2ee523a2206206994597C13D831ec7) is the default, with gas paid in ETH. TRC-20 USDT on TRON is the most used option, paid for with TRX energy and sent to addresses starting with T. You can also choose BNB Smart Chain, Solana, Arbitrum One or TON, where the Jetton version supports a memo. Choose the listing that matches the chain your wallet uses.

A USDT swap starts with a floating-rate estimate in the widget, with the exchange margin and the payout's network fee already taken off. If the other coin's price moves before your deposit confirms, the received amount can change slightly. Speed depends on the network: TRON makes a block about every 3 seconds and Ethereum every 12 seconds, and the payout chain adds its own time. The order page shows live status and a transaction ID you can quote to support.

Each network is a separate option in the coin selector. Send and receive only on the network you pick, and use a memo or tag where one is required.

Before you send

  • Open the coin selector and switch from the Ethereum default to TRC-20 if your USDT sits on TRON.
  • Keep TRX for energy when sending TRC-20 USDT, or the transfer to the deposit address can fail.
  • Paste a T address for TRC-20 payouts and a 0x address for ERC-20, BEP-20 or Arbitrum One payouts, matching the listing you picked.
  • Include the comment from your exchange when the USDT payout goes as a Jetton to a shared TON deposit address.

USDT Frequently Asked Questions

Can I send USDT on TRON instead of Ethereum?

Yes, pick the Tether (TRC20) listing in the coin selector before you create the order. The deposit address will then be a TRON address starting with T, and you pay the sending fee in TRX energy rather than ETH gas. TRC-20 USDT sent to an ERC-20 deposit address will not be credited.

Which USDT networks can I choose on xswap.to?

The listings are Ethereum (ERC-20), TRON (TRC-20), BNB Smart Chain (BEP-20), Solana (SPL), Polygon PoS, Avalanche C-Chain, Arbitrum One, TON (Jetton), Celo and Aptos. Each is a separate token with its own deposit address. Each deposit address accepts only the network printed on its order page.

Do I need a memo to receive USDT?

Only on TON, and only when the address belongs to a service that asks for a comment. The ERC-20, TRC-20, BEP-20, SPL and other USDT listings use plain addresses with no memo. A personal TON wallet needs none either.

Why do I need TRX or ETH to send USDT?

USDT is a token, so each network charges its fee in the chain's own coin: ETH on Ethereum, TRX on TRON, BNB on BNB Smart Chain, SOL on Solana. A wallet with USDT but none of that coin cannot send the deposit. Your payout fee works differently, since it comes out of the amount received.

Will I receive the same USDT amount the widget showed?

Close to it, but not to the cent, because rates float. The estimate reflects prices at the moment you created the order, and if the coin you send moves before the deposit confirms, the USDT result moves too. The fee for sending your USDT payout is built into that estimate as well.

What protects me when I swap USDT here?

xswap.to never asks for private keys or seed phrases and keeps no account balances; each order has its own one-time deposit address, and the payout goes straight to the address you typed. Your part is checking the network, the address and the amount before sending, since USDT transfers cannot be reversed. If something goes wrong, contact @xswap_to with the transaction ID.
