On the receiving side, XRP is the XRP Ledger's own coin, and the ledger's validators agree on each new ledger version by voting rather than mining. ADA belongs to Cardano, a proof-of-stake network secured by Ouroboros, and it has no token contract. The networks are unrelated, so this trade crosses chains. Payout addresses on the XRP Ledger start with r, and when that address belongs to an exchange account you must also enter its destination tag.

It needs one when the r address belongs to an exchange or another custodial service. Exchange-hosted XRP addresses are usually shared by many customers, and the tag tells the exchange which account to credit, so copy it exactly. A personal wallet with its own r address, such as a hardware or mobile wallet, does not need a tag.
The listing name refers to Ripple, the company associated with XRP, but the asset you receive is XRP on the XRP Ledger. Nothing about the payout changes because of the label. You get native XRP sent to the r address you enter.
An XRP Ledger account only exists after it receives at least the base reserve, an amount the network sets and can change. If your swap would deliver less than that to a fresh address, raise the amount or use an address that is already active. Contact support with your transaction ID if a payout stalls.
That works if the exchange withdraws native ADA on the Cardano network to the deposit address. Some exchanges offer other networks for ADA, so pick Cardano in the withdrawal menu. The exchange also charges its own withdrawal fee and may hold the withdrawal for review before it goes out.
Confirming means the order is waiting for your ADA deposit to be confirmed on Cardano, where a new block lands roughly every 20 seconds on average, and the exchange starts only after that. The XRP payout itself settles within seconds once it is sent. Busy networks or a compliance check can stretch the total.
