Litecoin launched in 2011 from Bitcoin's codebase. It uses Scrypt mining instead of SHA-256 but keeps the same UTXO design, so the two coins feel alike while running on separate chains. Use a native Litecoin address from your LTC wallet. Common formats start with L for legacy, M for script addresses and ltc1 for SegWit. A Bitcoin address can look similar, so check the prefix before you paste it.
