The two coins share a history, since Stellar was started by Ripple co-founder Jed McCaleb, and both target low-cost payments. A memo is required only if the payout goes to an exchange or custodial account that uses one shared address for many customers. Enter that memo in the widget's memo field exactly as the exchange shows it. A personal Stellar wallet such as Lobstr does not need a memo.
You can, but a new Stellar account only becomes active once it holds the minimum balance, which the network sets as a multiple of its base reserve. A payout to an unfunded address has to be large enough to create the account. Swap a comfortable amount so the XLM you receive clears that reserve.
They are separate networks with separate coins. Stellar was co-founded in 2014 by Jed McCaleb, who earlier co-founded Ripple, and the two share ideas like fast settlement and account reserves. XRP lives on the XRP Ledger, while XLM is native to Stellar, so a swap between them moves value across chains.
