Tether issues USDT and aims to keep each token redeemable for one US dollar. Choose the network your destination uses. ERC-20 on Ethereum is the default here and works with Ethereum wallets and apps, while TRC-20 on TRON usually costs less to move afterwards and is widely accepted by exchanges. Whichever you choose, the receiving address must belong to that network.
A T address is a TRON address, so it fits TRC-20 USDT, not the default ERC-20 payout. Switch the USDT network to TRON in the coin selector first rather than forcing the address in. Transfers on the wrong network cannot be pulled back.
Tether aims to keep USDT at one US dollar by holding reserves and allowing redemptions for verified customers. In practice the market price stays very close to that peg but can drift by a fraction during stressed markets. Treat it as a low-volatility asset, not a bank deposit.
You pay no gas to receive it, because the Ethereum fee for the payout is built into the estimate. Sending or spending the USDT later from an Ethereum wallet does require ETH. Receiving on TRON avoids ETH entirely, though TRON transfers need TRX in turn.
